Five-star Lucknam Park Hotel & Spa near Bath is making a number of investments in its luxury facilities, including a new restaurant and two new cottages.

The privately owned, luxury 42-bedroom hotel, pictured, which sits on a 500-acre estate at Colerne, will launch The Walled Garden restaurant next month, as well as upgrading its spa facilities and equestrian centre.

The new restaurant replaces the hotel’s brasserie following a major refurbishment and renovation and will complement the hotel’s Michelin-starred Restaurant Hywel Jones.

The Walled Garden Restaurant will be an all-day offering led by head chef Alex Greene and will serve seasonal menus that champion local produce, including spring lamb reared on the estate’s grounds.

Lucknam Park will also add two new, stone-built cottages to its grounds, each featuring two bedrooms, log-burning fireplaces and spacious private gardens complete with outdoor furniture.

Named Apple Tree and Pear Tree, they join the seven existing cottages, which range from the one-bedroom Gate House to the sprawling four-bedroom Squire’s Cottage, pictured.

Additions to the spa will include an experiential shower experience and infra-red sauna, which is about to be launched.

Meanwhile, the outdoor school at the hotel’s equestrian centre has been re-designed by  world-leading equine surface specialists Andrews Bowen and now features a cushioned classic wax surface to offer support, stability and durability for users.

Experiences available at the centre include one-to-one lessons, group hacks along the estate’s meadow and woodland trails and the Cotswolds Explorer Ride, a three-hour adventure that takes experienced riders through the countryside to sites such as the nearby village of Castle Combe.

Lucknam Park general manager Sakis Dinas said the investment, financial details of which have not been disclosed, would make this year “one of the most exciting yet for Lucknam Park”.

“At Lucknam Park, we constantly strive to evolve and innovate in order to exceed the expectations of our guests and provide them with incredible memories,” he added.

Lucknam Park Hotel & Spa is a member of Relais & Châteaux, the exclusive collection of 500-plus of the finest hotels and gourmet hotels across the world.
