Bath law firm Mogers Drewett has strengthened its commitment to sport in the city by launching a series of workshops for school students at which they can learn about netball from top players along with healthy eating and lifestyle advice.

The firm, which has been a key partner of the Pentathlon GB team for the past two years, staged the first session with Team Bath Netball for year 10 to 13 students at Bath’s Hayesfield Girls’ School.

Mogers Drewett is backing Team Bath Netball for the 2016/17 season and is helping encourage young girls to enjoy the sport. Among Team Bath Netball’s players is defender Eboni Beckford-Chambers, who is a trainee solicitor in dispute resolution at Mogers Drewett and who also plays for the England national netball team.

Eboni said: “Working here and seeing at first hand how they have embraced netball, it is fantastic to have Mogers Drewett on board as education partner.

“There is a great alignment of the Mogers Drewett and Team Bath Netball brands – both celebrate excellence and inclusivity, and both have very positive environments. I could not have asked for more than the support that Mogers Drewett have given me, both as an athlete and in my professional career, and it is great to see them supporting other female athletes in Bath.”

Hayesfield Girls’ School was the first in the series of workshops being with subsequent sessions planned with other schools, including The Corsham School in late January.

Mogers Drewett head of marketing Louise Kelly added: “We are looking to work with 10 to 14 students at our workshops, but some of the schools we are speaking to have asked Team Bath to work with two teams or a selection of their high performing athletes, so this number may vary along with the school year.”

Team Bath Netball player Rachel Shaw also attended the workshop, where each student received a ticket to the team’s Tri Tournament on January 7.

Other schools will be given the option of tickets to games on April 7 against Manchester Thunder, April 14 against Hertfordshire Mavericks, or April 22 v Celtic Dragons.

University of Bath director of sport Stephen Baddeley said “Mogers Drewett is helping us reach out further into the regional community to promote netball and also sports participation as a healthy option but also one that can give young people valuable and transferable lessons for life.”

Mogers Drewett also has offices in Wells, Frome and Sherborne.
