Chippenham-based logistics group Wincanton has appointed construction services firm Carillion’s finance director Richard Adam as a non-executive director with effect from June 1.

Mr Adam, pictured, will join Wincanton’s audit, remuneration and nomination committees. The firm today said it is envisaged that he will chair the audit committee “in due course”.

Mr Adam has held his position at Carillion since 2007 and was previously non-executive director at healthcare products group SSL International, where he was chairman of its audit committee, and a director at Zattikka, the online gaming firm that went into administration last August.

Wincanton has also announced that after nearly nine years as a non-executive director

Jonson Cox will step down from the board with effect from May 31.

Wincanton chairman Steve Marshall said: “Richard is an experienced group finance director and audit committee chair.

“He also has hands-on experience of the competitive business services and contracting environment of the type in which Wincanton operates. My personal thanks also go to Jonson for his valued contribution during his period on the Wincanton board.”
