Bath-headquartered law firm Royds Withy King has appointed two new partners to boost its personal injury and family teams.

Jayne Martins has joined the firm’s Bath office to focus on the practice areas of financial remedies, cohabitation disputes and private law involving children, while Sarah Wolf will work in its London office as part of its specialist asbestos diseases team.

Jayne, pictured right, who previously worked in the Bath office of Stone King for 15 years – most recently as a senior associate – has a specialism in financial matters on family breakdowns and pre-nuptial agreements.

She is an accredited mediator and the chair of Bath Resolution, which works with families and individuals to resolve issues in a constructive way.

She is particularly keen to work with clients who are wanting to reduce conflict, while she has extensive knowledge in assisting high net worth clients with their financial matters following a family separation.

Jayne said: “Royds Withy King is a hugely respected firm and brand, and I am excited to be a part of it.

“I have worked alongside members of the family team for a number of years in my role with Resolution and also as the other side on cases and I am really looking forward to working with such an experienced and knowledgeable team.

“I understand how hard family separation can be, particularly where there are children, and I am keen to look after clients’ interests and meticulous in doing so. I am committed to dealing with matters constructively and with the use of alternative dispute resolution methods where appropriate.”

Royds Withy King head of family Richard Ellis added: “We’ve really enjoyed welcoming Jayne to the team this week. She’s passionate about seeking to reduce conflict where possible and to assist clients in finding a constructive solution.

“As an accredited mediator and collaborative lawyer, she has the skills to deal with the emotions which inevitably follow a relationship breakdown. I’m sure she’ll provide exceptionally caring support to our clients.”

Sarah, pictured right, joins from international law firm Field Fisher, where she has spent the past three years as a senior associate, and has specialised in personal injury work on behalf of claimants since qualifying as a solicitor in 1993. She has also worked at Leigh Day, Irwin Mitchell and Shoosmiths.

She has always had a particular interest in industrial disease cases and has acted exclusively for sufferers of asbestos-related illnesses, particularly mesothelioma, since 2008.

She has worked with a range of clients nationally and internationally, and her recruitment further bolsters the dedicated asbestos team at Royds Withy King, which continues to go from strength to strength.

Sarah said: “I’m delighted to be joining the specialist asbestos diseases team at Royds Withy King. I know it’s a firm which really puts people first, which is particularly important in our line of work.

“I am also extremely grateful to be able to continue to specialise in this area, as I have for many years. I can’t wait to start.”

Royds Withy King partner and head of industrial diseases Helen Childs added: “Sarah has a brilliant reputation and a proven track record for securing compensation for clients in a wide range of successful cases.

“We pride ourselves in providing a bespoke service to our clients and assessing each and every claim on its individual merits so we’re very pleased to have Sarah join our tenacious and determined team of dedicated individuals.”

The arrival of Sarah and Jayne brings the number of new partner hires at Royds Withy King to 11 in the past year.

The firm employs around 520 people across its offices in Bath, Swindon, Oxford and London.
