Bath’s most competitive businesses are being urged to bring their rivalry to the table and take part in the region’s first Ping Pong Fight Club.

The popular Ping Pong Fight Club began four years ago as a stand-alone annual tournament in London. It is now spreading out across the UK and taking place in seven major cities – with the West’s turn on November 22 at Paintworks on Bath Road, Bristol.

The organisers have teamed up with China’s best-known beer brand Tsingtao to stage the high-powered, intensely competitive but immensely enjoyable events.

At Bristol’s battle of inter-company rivalry, where ping pong bragging rights are at stake, 14 tables will play host to 64 ‘gladiators’ from 16 of the region’s businesses.

Organisers are looking for teams from the region’s tech and creative start-ups as well as larger more established businesses to do battle on the tables and fight for the right to be crowned Ping Pong Fight Club champions of the West.

Hundreds of supporters expected to cheer on their work colleagues on the night – offering businesses a host of fun activities alongside the main tournament. Entertainment includes social ping pong zones for friendly grudge matches, going head-to-head with a ping pong robot in the ‘Pongbot’ Challenge, buddy-up doubles, Tsingtao’s Beer Pong Championships and even virtual reality ping pong.

Guests will also be able to enjoy pop-up bars and street food, face painters for battle scars and butterflies, and energetic soundtracks spun by the Ping Pong Fight Club DJs.

Bath Business Newssister website Bristol Business News will be competing and looking forward to taking on the cream of Bristol’s ping pong players on the night.

Companies can enter a team of four players with a range of packages from The Lightweight (up to 10 supporters and four team players) to The Rookie (up to 30 supporters and four team players) – all include a Tsingtao Beer, bespoke company Ping Pong Fight Club T-shirts and headbands.

Organiser and founder of Ping Pong Fight Club, Ade Leigh, said: “Ping Pong Fight Club is perfect for the city’s mix of businesses, whether they’re maverick start-ups, energetic creatives or industry-leading professional services firms. The event encourages team-work and is a great networking opportunity.”

Tsingtao Beer brand manager Mark Nicholson added: “We’re looking forward to seeing the different teams pick-up their paddles and battle it out. Whether people are seasoned pros or have never played before, it’s all about having a go and experiencing a taste of something different.”
