Bath-based landscape architecture practice Grant Associates has promoted 10 long-standing and valued members of its team in recognition of their exemplary performance.

The environmentally-focused business, which recently celebrated its 25th anniversary, is best known as the lead designer of the iconic Gardens by the Bay attraction in Singapore, and also oversaw the Superbloom transformation of the Tower of London moat during the late Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee.

It employs more than 70 people from nearly 20 countries across its design studios in Bath and Singapore – the majority are landscape architects who work with architects, 3D-modellers, BIM and visualisation specialists, horticulturists, designers, IT and other technicians.

The 10 promoted team members are:

  • Yasmin Alzadjally, who becomes a senior associate,
  • Senior landscape architects Kyrstyn Oberholster, James Walker, Mayuko Ando and Yuan Zhang, who are promoted to associates,
  • Oana Anghelache, who has been promoted from 3D computation designer to associate,
  • Ed Lucking, finance manager, who has been promoted to associate,
  • Landscape architects John Ho-Shun Yuen, Guus Vermeulen and Steven Morrison, are now senior landscape architects.

Yasmin, pictured, who has worked at Grant Associates since joining as a year-out student in 2008, said it was a privilege to become part of the senior associate team.

“I will forever be thankful to Grant Associates for their encouragement, mentorship and above all not changing who I am as an individual,” she added.

“I have learnt so much through working on a variety of amazing projects with fantastic people, and I hope to be able to set the same example for the new graduates just entering the profession.

“As a practice, we design for both people and our planet, and I hope I can continue to do both proud.”

Grant Associates founder and director Andrew Grant said the promotions reflected the value and skill the individuals brought to the firm’s international client base and landscape architecture project work.

“Our ongoing success and growth as a practice comes down to the talent and commitment of our multi-skilled people, and it is a pleasure to recognise the ongoing contributions of these 10 individuals and help support their career progression,” he added.

Grant Associates’ work, which also includes supporting Bath’s Forest of Imagination community arts event, aims at reconnecting people with nature in insightful, delightful and distinctive ways while addressing the global challenges of urbanisation, the climate crisis and biodiversity extinction.

It also won the Best Show Garden at the Chelsea Flower Show in 2021.
