A steady flow of champagne and canapes helped banish the January blues at a Meet the Team event hosted by Bath’s largest law firm Royds Withy King.

Around 150 people, including business contacts, private clients and lawyers, packed Brasserie Blanc for the firm’s traditional post-Christmas/New Year gathering.

The event was the first since the merger of Bath-headquartered Withy King and City of London practice Royds, which took effect on September 1 last year.

In a short welcoming address, managing partner Graham Street told guests that the merger meant enhanced client services and new opportunities – and assured them that the enlarged firm’s head office would remain in Bath.

Royds Withy King has two offices in the city, at Midland Bridge House and in Northumberland Buildings, off Queen Square.

The guest speaker was Sue Turner, chief executive of Quartet Community Foundation, which matches businesses with like-minded local charities and helps to facilitate mutually beneficial relationships between them. It works with many Bath firms, including Royds Withy King.

Sue provided an insight into the Foundation’s work to help people from disadvantaged backgrounds and gave examples of the ways in which businesses can get involved. Last year alone the Foundation awarded grants totalling more than £2.5m.

Royds Withy King’s annual Meet the Team event is the firm’s way of saying thank you to clients for their ongoing support and catching up with its many contacts in the local business community.

The firm also has offices in London, Oxford and Wiltshire and is a founding member of the international network of independent law firms Interleges.
