Innovative online publisher SelectScience, which specialises in the science industry, is projecting growth of 30% this year on the back of 25% expansion in 2016.

The firm also plans to grow its 40-strong global workforce, with further roles created in its multi-disciplinary teams at its Corston head office near Bath.

SelectScience provides vital information for scientists around the world, enabling them to better communicate about scientific products and help accelerate critical research globally. Crucially, it is a trusted online resource on Google.

SelectScience said its growth, in an economy still recovering from the financial crisis, was down to its ability to cater for its customers and respond quickly to changes in the industry.

President and CEO Arif Butt said: “Despite funding challenges in the science industry following the Brexit decision, SelectScience continues to grow and accelerate communication in science with a focus on the signal of truth over noise.”

Last year brought about big changes in the science industry but with unrivalled access to many influential figures, SelectScience was able to tell the story of many areas of cutting-edge science.

It carried more than 520 interviews, including uncovering the very latest developments in the controversial world of doping in sport via its exclusive ‘behind-closed-doors’ access to the science being conducted at the direct from both the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) accredited laboratory in Brazil and the Rio Olympics Laboratory.

Closer to home, SelectScience was the first publisher to be granted access to the labs at UK pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca and spoke with leading scientists about their breakthrough research in reducing the costs of drug screening.

The company, which started trading in 1998, is also busy with its third set of Scientists’ Choice Awards – SelectScience’s annual recognition of the year’s success in technology and communication. The awards celebrate some of the amazing advancements in a wide range of scientific fields, all helping to make the world a healthier place.
