Region’s charity marketers to hear latest industry thinking at major conference

September 4, 2014

Using social media to promote charity fundraising and other issues faced by the region’s professional fundraisers and charity marketers will be examined at a major event next month.

The second South West Charity Marketing Conference, organised by The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) South West region, will give the sector’s professionals the opportunity to tap into current thinking around social media as well as customer/stakeholder engagement and experience, and crisis communications.  The event takes place in Bristol on October 16.

Speakers include Avon Wildlife Trust director of communications and membership Dagmar Smeed and customer experience professional Jerry Angrave, who with Madeline Carroll from campaign organisation 38 Degrees will share their expertise on engaging customers and stakeholders.

Kate Doodson from Devon-based Cosmic IT will examine the role of social media with a presentation titled Communicating in a Complex World.

She will be joined by Peter Andrews from Bath & West Community Energy and Jo Foster from Bristol PR firm Wide Blue Yonder, who will talk about the importance of preparing for and managing a crisis.

Other speakers at the day-long event, which takes place at the St Monica Trust Hall in Westbury-On-Trym, include fundraising consultant Nancy Chambers, Paul Courtney of the Institute of Fundraising, and Juliette Randall from Arnos Vale Cemetery.
