Organisers of a high-level exclusive conference tackling issues of leadership and corporate responsibility for directors have just a few places left to fill.

The event, part of the Board 2020 seminar series, will put the spotlight on how, in a rapidly-changing environment, businesses should present themselves to the world.

The conference takes place from 8.30am to 2pm on October 5 at UWE, which is hosting it along with Strategic Value Partners (SVP) and Bristol-based executive search and recruitment specialists Moon Consulting. Of the hundred available places only a few are still available.

Backed by Bath Business News as media partner, this free conference will hear from Colin Drummond OBE, chief executive of specialist waste and recycling firm Viridor, and Andrew Webber, corporate partner at Bristol law firm TLT.

Colin has been an executive director of Pennon Group and chief executive of Viridor since 1992. Prior to joining Pennon, he was chief executive of Coats Viyella yarns division, an executive director of Renold, a consultant with the Boston Consulting Group and an official with the Bank of England.

He is chairman of the Government’s Living with Environmental Change Business Advisory Board, of the Environmental Sustainability Knowledge Transfer Network and of UKTI’s Water and Environmental Sector Advisory Group. He was Master of the Worshipful Company of Water Conservators for 2007/08 and has an MA from Oxford and MBA from Harvard where he held a Harkness Fellowship. In 2010 he appeared in Channel 4’s Undercover Boss.

Andrew specialises in mergers and acquisitions as well as joint ventures, demergers and group reorganisations. He has worked on a number of acquisition programmes for high-growth corporates and has lead significant disposals for management and private equity vendors. Andrew joined TLT in 1999 and was promoted to partner in 2008. He was awarded Young Dealmaker of the Year at the 2008 South West Deal Awards. He is recommended as a ‘leader in the field' of Corporate/M&A law by leading legal guide Chambers UK. Andrew regularly advises corporate clients and fast growing entrepreneurial businesses in the retail, healthcare and technology sectors.

Board 2020 was set up last year to stage conferences with a difference. Its events give delegates the chance to hear from world-class speakers as well as getting a valued interactive learning forum through a range of facilitated group discussion platforms such as World Café and Open Space.

Board 2020 events are attended exclusively by board members, executive and non-executive directors.

Led by Malcolm Lewis of SVP, the facilitated group discussions offer excellent networking opportunities as well as strong dialogue around the issues that matter to directors and the wider business community.
