Accountancy firm Monahans, which has an office in Bath, is to extend its business recovery service into the Midlands after appointing a new insolvency practitioner.

Paul McConnell, pictured, will be based in Worcester which will allow him to extend the team’s renowned expertise outside of its West of England heartland.

He joins from Smith & Williamson, where he was an insolvency partner. His appointment at Monahans is a return to the firm where he worked between 1999 and 2012.

Monahans partner and head of business recovery & insolvency Steve Elliott said: “Paul is already well known and highly respected in the region and we are excited about the opportunities that the extended reach will bring.

“With his extensive experience of advising businesses in distress, we believe that Paul will be key to building our profile, and ensuring that struggling businesses and individuals are aware that there are experienced professionals locally to whom they can turn.

“Many firms are facing fresh challenges as the economic recovery continues and we have a proven track record of helping clients to overcome those, and get them back on a secure footing.”

Paul McConnell said he was delighted to be working with old colleagues at Monahans again.

“My ambition has always been to give excellent, timely and compassionate advice to businesses and individuals in financial difficulty,” he said. “Steve's team at Monahans provides a perfect platform to achieve that.”

Monahans has 15 partners and more than 120 staff across its offices in Bath, Chippenham, Frome, Glastonbury, Trowbridge and Swindon.
