Two lawyers who began their careers as trainees at Bath-headquartered regional firm Royds Withy King have been promoted to partner.

James Worrall and Mark Hambleton were both named as ‘associates to watch’ in the latest edition of legal sector guide Chambers.

James, pictured right, is described by clients as “commercially minded with good client rapport”. He works in Royds Withy King’s Bath-based corporate team, specialising in mergers and acquisitions, corporate structures, group reorganisations and exit strategies. He acts for entrepreneurs, corporates and business owners and has a particular focus on the financial services and technology sectors.

In the latest edition of Legal 500 UK, another respected legal directory, James was tipped as a ‘next generation lawyer’. Recent transactions he has taken the lead advisory role in include the sale of Somerton-based insurance services group Higos to acquisitive London-based specialist investment firm Global Risk Partners, Bristol tech firm Applicable’s sale to French comms company Arkadin and the takeover of Bath City Football Club by its Supporters Society.

Mark, pictured below, is described by Chambers as a ‘rising star’. He specialises in complex personal injury and insurance claims and has a particular specialism in cases involving cyclists, motorcyclists, individuals who do not have the capacity to litigate, and cases involving the Animals Act.

He is the South West co-ordinator for the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers, writes regular blogs on ‘cycling and the law’ for the Road.cc website and is the South West ambassador for Iconic Cycling Events.

Royds Withy King Bath office lead partner Stuart Brazington said: “We are delighted to announce James’ and Mark’s promotions. Both started out as trainees in the Bath office and learned, developed and grew with the firm.

“They put a huge amount of time and effort into their work and continually go over and above to deliver a consistently high level of service to their clients.”

Royds Withy King, Bath’s largest law firm, has more than 500 partners and staff across its offices in Bath, London, Oxford and Wiltshire.

The firm has also promoted five solicitors to associate and senior associate in its Bath offices.
