Malcolm Miller, group managing director of automotive sector learning and development agency RTS, has been admitted as a Fellow of the Institute of the Motor Industry (FIMI), the professional association for individuals working in the sector in the UK.
The move makes Chippenham-based RTS one of only a few independent learning and development companies to boast two directors with FIMI accreditation – the firm’s chairman and founder Richard Wells was admitted as an FIMI in 1991.
RTS has been providing learning and development services to the automotive industry for 25 years. It works across Europe, the Middle East, China and South Africa with major manufacturers such as Mercedes-Benz, Toyota, Mazda and Nissan.
Its training aims to improve the knowledge, skills and performance of frontline staff. Methods used range from one-to-one and classroom learning, through to e-learning using smart phones, tablets and online tools.
Malcolm Miller, who joined RTS five years ago and has been managing director since 2012, said: “It’s a great honour to have been made a Fellow of the IMI.
“There are equivalent institutes in other countries, but the IMI is by far the most prestigious and well-established. It is a valued and recognised name in a global marketplace, especially in the Middle and Far East.”
Malcolm began his career in UK investment, moving into the automotive industry 15 years ago.
Richard Wells, who founded RTS in 1989 after a long career in automotive dealership groups, said: “The FIMI status for both myself and for Malcolm shows the importance placed on learning and development as a strategic part of the automotive sector.”
