The firm, part of the giant Swedish construction and development group Skanska, is to work with award-winning Bath architects Feilden Clegg Bradley Studio to develop concepts and plans for the former Ensleigh South site, which it bought form  the MoD.

The development, will be Skanska Residential’s first in the South West. The firm, which says it builds ‘beautiful, spacious, easy-to-run homes designed on Scandinavian principles, was launched last year with a project in Cambridge.

It said the Lansdown site would have between 35 and 45 properties, predominantly housing. Subject to planning approval, it is anticipated that construction will

begin in mid 2013, with the first homes being ready to move into in mid 2014. President of Skanska Residential in the UK Magnus Andersson said: “This

part of the country was an area we identified when establishing our plans for a residential development business in the UK, as one that could offer exciting long term opportunities.

“Bath is an excellent location, where we see potential for further growth and development in the residential sector.”
