A new commercial development in central Bath will offer a unique opportunity for businesses looking for a prime city centre location when it opens next month.

The unit, pictured, on John Street between Queen Square and Milsom Street is being developed by city-based firm Longacre. It is currently under construction and due for completion in February.

The scheme, which gained planning approval in 2017, will offer a total of 1,141 sq ft of modern ground floor and basement accommodation with room for up to 15 employees.

It has a large frontage onto the street in a period style to match the neighbouring buildings and would be suitable for a range of occupiers.

The flexible, energy efficient space also benefits from BT fibre optic broadband, making it suitable for a wide range of uses from traditional retail through to design studios or tech-based operations.

Longacre has a well-established reputation around Bath for quality refurbishment and development projects which are sensitive to their settings.

Its previous schemes include One Bilbury Lane, Great Pulteney Street’s Fitzroy House and Milsom Apartments on Milsom Street.

The firm was set up by Mark Tyrrell, a former director of student accommodation group Unite and property developer Deeley Freed Estates – both based in Bristol – and Julian Emery, who runs Bath-based family construction firm Emerys, who between them have more than 50 years’ experience in the sector.

Director Mark Tyrrell said: “Longacre is pleased to be bringing forward this development which will provide a fantastic central location for a business looking for new premises in Bath.

“As a company Longacre prides itself on quality, sensitive redevelopment projects and we’re looking forward to unveiling the finished project.”

Allan Lloyd from agents Colston & Colston added: “The building is situated in a unique city centre location within easy walking distance of the train and bus stations as well as Charlotte Street car park.

“We’re anticipating a lot of interest in the property as it brings the best of both worlds – modern, fit for purpose commercial space within a historic and central setting.”
