Bristol & Bath Science Park is to compete in the British Council for Offices (BCO) National Awards after being named the South West’s Best Commercial Workplace in the regional heats.

The awards showcase buildings that are high quality, flexible, efficient and sustainable, as well as being effective workplaces and contributing to the community.

Around 300 property professionals including many of the region’s top architects, developers, agents and occupiers attended the regional awards last week, which were presented by Garry Richardson, sports anchor on Radio 4’s Today Programme.

The 59-acre science park at Emersons Green, north Bristol, acts as a hub for the region’s science and technology businesses, connecting entrepreneurs, fledgling businesses and established brands with investors, academia and design.

Science Park chief executive Bonnie Dean said: “Winning this prestigious award is a tribute to the team’s extensive work in the early planning stages to create the right type of environment for science and technology businesses.

“The award reflects feedback from our tenants that the facilities and the networking opportunities at the Park are enhancing the development of their businesses.”

The National Composite Centre on the Science Park was highly commended in the recent Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) regional awards.

The recently BCO National Awards take place on October 2.
