National property consultancy Carter Jonas has expanded its presence in Bath by taking space in a second office in the city.

The firm’s Bath commercial and rural teams are to move out of its office in Wood Street in the city centre to St James House, The Square, off Lower Bristol Road.

The move into just over 3,650 sq ft will allow the teams to continue to expand their services across the South West.

Carter Jonas’ Bath residential team, which handles sales and lettings as well as new homes, will remain at Wood Street.

Nationally Carter Jonas has increased turnover by 50% over the past three years, with revenue in its commercial business growing by more than 200% over the same period.

The move further strengthens Carter Jonas’ offering in the South West. Earlier this year it opened offices in Taunton and Truro, taking its total network across the UK to 38.

Carter Jonas opened its Bath office in 2009. Its commercial and rural teams in the city now have 32 qualified surveyors offering a comprehensive range of property services including commercial, retail and rural agency, architecture and building consultancy, management, planning and valuations.

Carter Jonas partner and head of commercial Scott Harkness, who is based in its Oxford office, said: “This is an exciting new chapter for the team in the South West. Our expansion is a testament to the relationships that have been built with clients across the region, as well as the quality of service, expertise and local knowledge that we provide.

“Our national growth is reinforced by the achievements of our regional hub offices across the UK and Bath is a true success story. The commercial and rural teams have grown both in size and expertise over recent years with revenue increasing by 75% since 2009.

“Activity in the South West market has been extremely positive, with occupier demand at its highest for several years and this has presented many new opportunities for the teams. Our new office space provides a modern, open-plan environment in a convenient location for access to Bath and the wider region, and an ideal platform for our future development.”
