Bath entrepreneurs, start-ups and small firms can learn about better financial management at a breakfast meeting next Wednesday.

Staged by the Institute of Certified Bookkeepers (ICB) as part of National Bookkeeping Week, the free event aims to improve the knowledge and perception of basic bookkeeping principles such as cashflow management.

The event, at the Macdonald Bath Spa Hotel, will be hosted by ICB chief executive Garry Carter and opened by the Deputy Mayor of Bath Cllr Ian Gilchrist.

Taking part will be representatives from the Federation of Small Businesses, Bath and North East Somerset Council, Wessex Chambers of Commerce, Business West, Bath Rugby Foundation and local small businesses and bookkeeping practices.

The ICB said: “Entrepreneurship is highly important to the UK’s economy yet many start-ups fail through poor financial management and negative cash flow.

“At this event ICB will present the opportunity to discuss the benefits of better bookkeeping to minimise the barriers to growth in start-up, small and medium business.”

The event is on November 6 between 8am and 10am.
