The founder of Bath-based care company Butterfly, Anne Pelling, has celebrated her 50th birthday by jumping out of a plane to raise funds for a local charity.

Anne overcame her fear and completed the sky dive to net more than £800 for Dorothy House Hospice – with money from well-wishers still coming in.

She said: “It was the most amazing and awesome experience. I did it and live to tell the tale! I’d like to thank everyone who has sponsored me and I’m aiming to raise £1,000 in all.”

Anne’s children Ben and Hannah gave her the sky dive as an unusual birthday gift. She decided to raise money for Dorothy House Hospice as Butterfly’s team in Bath and Wiltshire had choses it as their charity of the year for 2016.

The sky dive is the first of several events planned to raise funds for Dorothy House by the 73-strong Butterfly team, who work from offices in Odd Down and Westbury, Wilts. Anyone wishing to make a donation can do so here - http://bit.ly/1QPxIQw

Butterfly was set up eight years ago by Anne, who had a long and distinguished career as a carer. The company expanded into Wiltshire in 2013, and has a reputation for best practice in home care.
