Six young mums have successfully completed a home-cooking skills course set up by celebrity chef Jamie Oliver and staged by Wiltshire training provider The Learning Curve.

The Learning Curve piloted Jamie's Home Cooking Skills course in collaboration with 4Children at its Canberra Children’s Centre in Melksham, which has provided an ideal opportunity to begin teaching cooking skills to young parents.

The course is a Level-2 provision which focuses on giving young people the skills to prepare delicious and nutritious home-cooked food using fresh ingredients.

The young mums will celebrate with their babies at Jamie’s Italian in Bath on Monday when a formal presentation of their certificates will take place.

Delivery manager, Young People’s Learning, Gail McKay said: “This has been a fantastic opportunity for this group of young parents and it’s been such a success we hope to continue with the programme further and offer to a wider audience."

The Learning Curve has provided training and development to the voluntary sector and the community for more than 10 years.  It draws down funding from a variety of public sector sources and tailors its provision to the needs of the community.
