Bath firms are being urged to consider export opportunities in high-growth Gulf markets at an event today.

UK Trade & Investment (UKTI), the UK Government department that helps companies succeed in the global economy, is staging a UK-wide roadshow this month to introduce small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait.

The roadshow, called the Gulf Tour to the UK, arrives at Leigh Court, near Bristol, today. It is free of charge to UK companies and will provide invaluable advice, information and contacts to businesses looking to gain a foothold in the lucrative Gulf market.

HM deputy consul general and director of UK Trade & Investment in Dubai, Ian Gibbons, said: “The Gulf contains some of the UK’s biggest trading partners and represents an excellent opportunity for British expertise and products.

“Our panel of experts is made up of Gulf-based trade officers and private sector partners who have first-hand experience of working in the region, making the roadshow a must-attend event for anybody considering doing business there.”

UKTI South West regional director Russell Jones added: “This is an invaluable opportunity for the region’s businesses to find out more about this lucrative market, which continues to experience substantial growth. In addition to this event, UKTI South West plans to organise a trade mission to the Middle East later this year, to meet prospective buyers and provide first-hand experience of what it is like doing business with countries including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait and Jordan.”

The roadshow is organised in partnership with British Airways, British Offset, HSBC, KPMG and Pinsent Mason, representatives of which will be on hand to provide further advice on the legal, financial and contractual implications of doing business in each of the four Gulf States.
