Bath PR firm DWP Public Relations is celebrating helping client Clifton Asset Management win a prestigious industry award.

DWP handled the recent national PR launch of the ground-breaking business funding portal alternativebusinessfunding.co.uk – the brainchild of Bristol-based Clifton’s chairman Adam Tavener.

Clifton was presented with the Business Moneyfacts Best Alternative Funding Provider 2014 award at a glittering ceremony in London.

DWP has been working with Clifton since 2012, leading the national media campaign of the company’s pension-led funding product. Pensionledfunding.com has helped more than 1,500 businesses find funding to the tune of around £200m, and its popularity has made Clifton, which employs 100 people at its Bristol offices, the second-largest provider of alternative business finance in the UK.

Clifton and pensionledfunding.com were the catalyst for the launch of the new alternativebusinessfunding.co.uk portal. The portal, which has already garnered support from Business Secretary Vince Cable and the CBI, is a unique collaboration between the UK’s main alternative business funders and aims to make borrowing easier for the country’s small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) whilst aiding the main banks to support applicants they cannot fund.

DWP director David Pippett said: “This is especially satisfying as it followed a highly-successful PR launch of the alternativebusinessfunding portal, which resulted in widespread national media coverage and recognition from Vince Cable on the day of the launch.”

Clifton group marketing director Kevin Peake added: “Teamwork has been a really important factor in winning this award and the consistent hard work carried out by DWP as part of this winning team has been vital to our success.

“From the national press coverage DWP achieved for the launch of our alternativebusinessfunding.co.uk portal, to the constant fielding of media calls and the briefings they have managed, nothing has been too much trouble for them.”

DWP also works with national management consultancy/advisory brands such as KPMG CIO Advisory, LCP Consulting, and the Management Consultancies Association, the representative body for management consultancy firms in the UK.
