This year’s TEDxBath is shaping up to be the best yet, according to its organisers as they prepare to announce 2023’s line-up.

Taking place at The Forum on Saturday 14 October, will feature six speakers and two acts and, according to the team behind it, generate unlimited ideas.

TEDx events, which are held across the globe, act as a showcase for speakers presenting great, well-formed ideas in under 18 minutes.

They have been staged in Bath every year since 2018, when first event, staged in the Abbey, attracted 100 people.

Last year’s had more than 1,500 attendees, who witnessed a range of mind-opening talks from speakers aged from 12 to 82, including Bath-based cook and winner of 2014’s MasterChef winner Ping Coombes, pictured.

This year’s speaking panel will be named next month and, as in previous years, will cover a range of topics.

The event will also feature performances from talented local people and include the TEDxBath Innovation Lab, a place for the audience to discover innovations from sponsors, mingle with past speakers and continue discussions about the talks they have just witnessed.

Many of the city’s largest and most forward-looking businesses have become sponsors of TEDxBath -  and among the partners for this year’s event are Bath Spa University, the University of Bath, global engineering group Buro Happold and law firm RWK Goodman.

TEDxBath is run by a group of volunteers, who have come together each year to make it happen.

The comms lead for 2023 is Bob Mytton, founder of Bath design agency Mytton Williams, who said he was proud to be supporting such an exciting local event.

“Having attended for the first time last year, I was keen for us to join the team, get involved and help with the campaign and all communications,” he added.

Tickets, priced at £20 (£15 students), are now on sale.
