Sales expert Alison Edgar has travelled to New York as part of a national business mission for small and medium-sized firms to explore trade opportunities.

Alison, pictured, managing director of Chippenham-based Sales Coaching Solutions, has joined more than 60 UK-based small businesses to meet entrepreneurs who are successful in the Big Apple.

During the two-day visit organised by Enterprise Nation, which starts today, Alison will visit Etsy, an online e-commerce site for handmade and vintage items and meet members of the growing Freelancers Union.

Guest speakers for the event include angel investor Heidi Messer, Judith Clegg, founder of TakeOut who divides her time between London and New York, and Rachel Shechtman, founder of Story, New York’s most successful retail pop-up.

Ahead of the visit, Alison said: “It’s brilliant to be able to take the opportunity to meet other business owners from a city like New York. We can learn from each other and become more educated around exporting our talents to new markets and new people – even if an ocean separates us.”

Sales Coaching Solutions focuses on sales and customer service training for start-up enterprises, SMEs and corporate organisations. The company is also a pioneer in the Government’s Growth Vouchers initiative and Alison has also been appointed as the regional representative for the South West on the national Growth Vouchers Promotional Panel, helping to introduce the scheme to companies wanting to grow their business.
