A planning application for Hitachi Capital Commercial Vehicle Services’ (HCCVS) new headquarters in Trowbridge has been submitted to Wiltshire Council.

The fast-growing firm wants to move from its existing base on the Canal Road Industrial Estate, which it will soon be too small, and has identified a greenfield site near the White Horse Business Park on the outskirts of the town at North Bradley.

HCCVS employs around 100 staff in Trowbridge and expects to take on another 50 when it moves. Longer term it says it could triple staff numbers over the next five years.

The firm is one of the UK's leading vehicle specialists and offers vehicle finance and leasing to major firms such as utility businesses.

The plans for the 18,500 sq ft head office and an associated 4,000 sq ft vehicle preparation building have been drawn up by Bath architects Nash Partnership as part of a design and planning project undertaken in collaboration with Bath landscape architects Macgregor Smith, consulting engineers Silcock Dawson’s Bristol office, and Bristol-based specialist contractors Hydrock.

Nash Partnership said the plans meet HCCVS’ aspirations for the building to enhance the work environment for its employees and meets its sustainability principles.

“The building will target BREEAM ‘very good’ credentials and will aim to enhance site biodiversity whilst imbedding Hitachi’s ethos of harmony within the emerging landscape design,” said a spokesman.
