Underground home car parking firm looks to lift Bath out of its parking nightmare

Underground home car parking system firm Cardok UK and specialist property developer Nitor Investments have made their first move in what they hope will be a parking revolution in Bath.

The two city-based firms are working together to add Cardok’s revolutionary space-saving electro-hydraulic car lift parking system to a five-bedroom family home in Hermitage Road which Nitor hopes to develop.

The planning application submitted to Bath & North East Somerset Council for the property includes an innovative space-saving system that would accommodate one car beneath the driveway of the new property with space to park another on top – so doubling the number of parking spaces as well as offering greater security than a conventional garage.

The Swiss firm behind Cardok system opened its UK headquarters in Bath earlier this year and recently appointed Nitor Investments director Nick Sandy as its chief executive director.

He said: “Parking is a real problem for home owners in historic cities such as Bath where developable parking space is at a premium. The Cardok offers a practical and affordable solution for local residents.

“We believe that when people see Bath’s first Cardok it will trigger a parking revolution in the city as residents and developers begin to appreciate its space-saving benefits.

“We are currently developing new affordable parking solutions that are more cost-effective in relation to the land cost and certainly much cheaper than paying for a new build garage.”

Nitor specialises in quality refurbishment and new-build houses with an emphasis on green living.
