A unique event to raise funds for the people of Ukraine hosted by stand-up comedian James Acaster and featuring an auction based on home interiors will take place in Bath next week.

HOME AID has been created by city-based interiors duo Newton & Worthy to highlight the fact that while people in Bath are safe at home surrounded by beautiful interiors, millions in Ukraine have lost everything and are now refugees.

The auction will include products and unique experiences donated by acclaimed interior designers, brands, shops, makers and artists from across the South West.

As well as James Acaster, pictured below – best known for his appearances on BBC Two’s Mock The Week and Channel 4’s 8 out of 10 Cats – the evening will include music by the Claire Martin Quintet, fronted by multi award-winning singer Claire Martin OBE, while the auction will be led by former Sotheby’s auctioneer Ed Rising.

All profits from the event, which is in The Assembly Rooms from 6.30pm-9:30pm on Thursday 5 May, will go directly to Ukraine Emergency fund UNHRC, the UN Refugee Agency.

Celebrated photography and journalist duo Newton & Worthy specialise in interiors and collaborate with some of the most talented interior designers, brands, artists and makers working today.

Journalist Hannah Newton said: “Whilst here in the UK, we are safe in our own houses, surrounded by much-loved possessions and our everyday furnishings, the Ukrainian people are losing everything they have ever owned, fleeing from war and disaster and seeking sanctuary far from home with the few effects they had time to grab.

“That’s why HOME AID will feature something for all budgets and tastes so that everyone can contribute to this effort to raise as much money as possible for the vulnerable people hit by this horrific war.”

Photographer Claire Worthy added: “Feeling helpless and heartbroken by this crisis we ask everyone in Bath and beyond to come together and help us raise as much money as possible.

“We can all make a difference, however small, to support the work of UNHCR to deliver, food, shelter and life-saving aid.”
