An upmarket hotel on Bath’s doorstep has become a member of an elite organisation that helps market some of the UK’s most prestigious venues.

Homewood Hotel & Spa, pictured, the 31-bedroom luxury hotel set in 20 acres of grounds in Freshford, has been included in PoB Hotels’ portfolio of 54 independent luxury and boutique UK hotels.

The organisation, based near Malmesbury, was formed in 1982 by a small group of British hoteliers to offer properties marketing support among the domestic market in return for an annual membership fee.

Known as Pride of Britain Hotels until last year, its members include five-star Lucknam Park at Colerne, and Bath’s Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa.

PoB Hotels said the addition of Homewood, which it described as a “unique Georgian retreat”, along with new member The Montagu Arms in the New Forest, underscored its commitment to offering “unparalleled luxury experiences in destinations that captivate the hearts of discerning travellers”.

Homewood has been owned by Bath boutique hotel group the Kaleidoscope Collection since 2018.

The group, which also owns the 31-bedroom The Bird, Bath, on Bath’s Pulteney Road, Bishopstrow Hotel & Spa, a 19th-century, 32-bedroom country house hotel near Warminster, and No.7 Upper Lansdown, a luxurious two-bedroom house, close to Bath city centre, added a 10-bedroom lodge to Homewood in 2019.

A further £3m expansion has included six new luxury guest suites, each with their own private terraces, two new spa suites and a small meeting and events space.

There is also a hydrotherapy pool, sauna, steam room and an outdoor swimming pool and hot tub with views over the valley.

The hotel’s restaurant, Olio, offers locally sourced Mediterranean-style dishes, with fruit, vegetables, and herbs picked from its ‘no-dig’ kitchen garden.

Homewood general Ed Fitzpatrick said: “We are thrilled to embark on this exciting journey with PoB Hotels.

“After the last couple of years of dedicated development and the implementation of elevated standards, we are primed and eager to take our property to the next level.

“With PoB Hotels’ support, we are confident that Homewood will continue to exceed expectations, welcoming new domestic guests through our doors.”

PoB Hotels CEO Kalindi Juneja said Homewood and The Montagu Arms perfectly complement its portfolio, “embodying the epitome of luxury, elegance, and personalised service”.

She added: “As we continue to expand our collection, we remain steadfast in our commitment to delivering unforgettable experiences for our guests in destinations that inspire and enchant guests whilst championing the best independent hotels across the British Isles.”
