The recently launched Bath Institute for Mathematical Innovation (Bath IMI) at the University of Bath is hosting its first event aimed at helping companies and organisations access cutting-edge knowledge and research funding.

The Industry Innovation Partnerships Workshop will explore how some of the most complex business challenges are solved through university-industry collaboration projects.

The event is aimed at SMEs looking to develop and innovate their business and will cover some of the many opportunities for collaborative working between universities and industry. The event will also give details on the national funding schemes available to support university-industry collaboration projects and the eligibility criteria for R&D tax credits.

Speakers include Toby Proctor from Innovate UK and Ali Hadavizadeh from the Innovation Centre in Bath.

The workshop takes place on Friday February 12 between 9am and 11.30am at the University of Bath Innovation Centre in Carpenter House, Broad Quay.

Pre-bookable 15 minute one-to-one consultancy sessions to discuss specific business challenges will be available from 11.30am to 2pm.

Registration is free, but booking is essential. Visit http://www.bath.ac.uk/imi/events/imi-workshop.html for more information about the event.

Bath IMI, which was launched last October last year, uses data analysis, statistics and mathematical modelling to help organisations understand complex phenomena, simulate outcomes, improve processes and optimise resource management.

Its team of mathematical and statistical modellers work on short to long-term industrial projects with the intellectual support of the University of Bath academics. Projects range from consultancy services and larger joint research projects to student placements in organisations of all sizes.
