Specialist pharmaceutical firm Vectura’s chief operations officer Trevor Phillips is to leave the business in May, it has announced.

Mr Phillips, pictured, who joined Vectura in 2010 and is also president of Vectura’s US Operations, has played an integral leadership role in the Chippenham-based firm’s development in recent years, including the €130m (£108m) acquisition of specialist German pharmaceutical company Activaero in 2014 and the £440m with Skyepharma in 2016 to create a £1bn business.

As well as the Skyepharma merger, in which Mr Phillips headed the integration activities, he has additionally led the development of the enlarged group’s manufacturing, device industrialisation and supply chain teams.

Vectura, which makes innovative devices and formulation for inhaled airways diseases, said a recruitment process would now start for a suitably experienced individual to lead its supply chain and manufacturing operations.

Chief executive officer James Ward-Lilley said: “I would like to extend my personal thanks to Trevor for the support he has given me and for the highly professional way in which he has carried out his role in the business.

“Trevor has been a significant driver of the transition of the group into the business it is today.”
