Magnet, the UK’s largest kitchen and joinery specialist, has renewed its national home delivery and transport contract with Chippenham-based logistics group Wincanton in a long-term deal.

The agreement means Wincanton will continue to transport products from Magnet’s Darlington manufacturing plant to its UK-wide customers via strategic distribution sites, along with its two-man home delivery service.

Wincanton, which started working with Magnet in 2006, handles nearly 40,000 deliveries of kitchen furniture, appliances and internal joinery products a year for the firm, which has nearly 200 showrooms across the country and is part of Europe’s largest kitchen group Nobia.

Wincanton said it will introduce bespoke double-deck trailers to the contract to ensure it remains at the forefront of innovation.

Nobia supply chain director for Western Europe, Paul Symmons, said: “The Magnet brand is synonymous with quality, craftsmanship and customer care and these are the same qualities we look for in any organisation with which we do business.

“We have a long standing relationship with the Wincanton team who have delivered a consistently high level of customer satisfaction and operational performance and demonstrated a clear commitment to adding value to our business.”

Wincanton chief executive Eric Born added: “By remaining at the forefront of supply chain innovation, Wincanton consistently adds value to our customers’ operations and we are delighted that Magnet has recognised our commitment to continuous improvement and customer care.”
