A ‘summer of sport’ has helped the Bath offices of law firm Withy King raise nearly £18,500 for the Royal United Hospital’s Forever Friends Appeal – their chosen charity for the past two years.

Staff from the two offices took part in a range of fund-raising activities inside and outside working hours including individuals and teams running, cycling and completing the gruelling Three Peaks Challenge. On the less sporty side, they also took part in a bake-off.

Every two years Withy King’s employees vote for their charity of choice in each of the firm’s three principal locations – Bath, Wiltshire and Oxfordshire. The total amount raised across the firm amounted to almost £50,000 – with Bath staff bringing in £18,428.83.

The firm’s other charities of choice were Wiltshire Air Ambulance and Headway Oxfordshire.

Withy King partner and chair of its charities’ committee Chris Kane said: “We are committed to making a positive impact on the communities we work in.

“The staff in our Bath offices nominated Bath RUH’s Forever Friends Appeal as their ‘charity of choice’ and we are delighted with what individuals and teams have managed to achieve over the last two years.

“I am immensely proud of the initiative they have shown in coming up with novel fund-raising ideas as well as the effort they have put into the activities themselves.”

The Forever Friends Appeal corporate officer Jo Common added said:  “Big Ted and The Forever Friends Appeal have loved working so closely with the Withy King team over the past two years. The team have been so passionate about raising funds for our new cancer centre that they have taken on a huge range of different fundraising challenges – from completing the Three Peaks Challenge, to running the Bath Half, joining our Walk of Life, holding a bake-off competition, plus many more.

“I would therefore like to take this opportunity to say a really heartfelt thank you to every single member of the Withy King team who has put so much time and effort into fundraising for our charity – we are so grateful to have had your support helping us to raise these vital funds towards a new cancer centre that will transform care for patients and their families here at the RUH.”

The Forever Friends Appeal has helped secure more than £17m to provide state-of-the-art equipment and facilities at the RUH.

The cancer care campaign aims to raise £8.5m towards the cost of a pioneering new cancer centre designed to produce a highly beneficial healing environment for patients and their families. Some £6.3m has already been secured.

Withy King Bath offices’ charity for the next two years will be Dorothy House Hospice in Bradford-on-Avon.
