Bath innovator to explain how to rise to the creative challenge

University of Bath graduate-turned-entrepreneur Griff Holland, co-founder of whole food outlet Friska, joins two other innovators this evening to explain how they have risen to the challenge of retaining creativity in their businesses.

The trio will give an insight into the different stages of developing creative businesses at the event jointly staged by the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) and the Institute of Directors (IoD) and supported by Bath Business News’ sister site Bristol Business News.

Mr Holland joins Mark Mason, chief executive of Mubaloo, the UK’s largest developer of mobile phone applications, and Miles Bullough, broadcast and executive at Aardman Animations to address issues such as How do you innovate to take your business from micro to global?, Is there any such thing as a new idea? and How do you keep business creativity fresh in order to stay one step ahead of the competition?

The event takes place at UWE Bristol Street Cafe on the university’s Frenchay campus. Organiser Karen White, deputy chair of the IoD in Bristol, and director of JBP PR & Parliamentary Affairs, said: “Keeping creativity fresh is increasingly important to sustain growth in today’s fast-moving business landscape.

“Friska, Mubaloo and Aardman will be taking us through the creative challenges of business at three very different stages of their lifecycles – start up, a nationally-expanding enterprise. and an established household name across the globe.

“We also want this event to act as a platform for budding entrepreneurs to get involved in creative business thinking.”

The event starts at 6pm and includes drinks and a light buffet, will also act as a networking opportunity for attendees.

Ticket are £13+VAT (£15.60) for IoD and CIM members and guests, £17+VAT (£20.40) for non-members.

Friska was launched in 2009 by ex-University of Bath students Griff Holland and Ed Brown. Its first outlet in Victoria Street, Bristol, is developing a reputation among local office workers for its wholesome food and it recently opened the café at the Bristol and Bath Science Park, selected, said the park’s operators, because of its belief in ‘feel-good food’ that is fresh, appetising and good value for money.
